In Magic Encyclopedia: First Story you will find yourself acting as Catherine, the top student of the Academy of Magic, where young people learn to use their powers to control nature. Right after your test, you get a disturbing message brought to you by a paper bird. The teleportation symbol in the message led you to the decision to use the Teleportation Articfact you got from your parents. Once you’ve done that, the adventure begins, as you find yourself at the center of a Mayan civilization trying to solve an ancient mystery.
The game is really addicting, as you don’t just search for hidden items but assemble them and use them to find a few other things. In each location you have a number of items divided into sections to search. Once you’ve found all the item parts, you can use them – if you find where. Read the instructions at the top of the screen – they are very useful in search flfilling. Some item parts can only be found after you have used something else. So sometimes it really takes creativity and attention.
Apart from the item parts you’ll also have to look for crystals
Some of them activate Repair Artifacts which allow items to be assembled, and some of them are required to power amulets from boxes, which is also very helpful.
One of the biggest features of the game is that the characters are nonlinear. Some levels offer more than one location, and items from one of them must be used in the other. There is also a secret room that you will find across several levels, and lots of interesting mini-games.
